Summary
This article provides information about why demographic data is collected in the Single Data Return (SDR).
Why is demographic data collected in the SDR?
TEC gathers demographic data (eg, age, gender, ethnicity) as part of the SDR for statistical and reporting purposes.
The Ministry of Education (MoE) uses this data to further their understanding of student movement and the NZ workforce.
For example:
- to see the participation of students in various fields of study by gender
- to see the age breakdown of tertiary students for planning, policy and research purposes
If any data is published, it is aggregated to anonymise student information.
