Summary
This article provides an explanation of the three enrolment types of learners for SDR reporting purposes and a brief summary of the data required for the SDR. It also includes a flowchart showing how to categorise learners into types.
It also advises where to find more detailed information.
Enrolment types of leaners for SDR reporting
The three types of learner enrolments are described below. Type D enrolments require the most data.
Type B enrolment
All STAR learners, and learners enrolled in quality assured (formal) qualifications that have a total EFTS value (across all enrolments) less than or equal to 0.03.
- STAR is the Secondary Tertiary Alignment Resource programme, and is relevant for some (but not all) learners who are undertaking tertiary learning while still at secondary school.
- Only minimal data is required to be recorded but you are encouraged to report a full data set for each learner if at all possible.
- Type B learners may have a verified or unverified NSN, ie, they are not required to provide verification documentation.
Type C enrolment
Learners enrolled in a non-formal programme. Non-formal education/course is learning that does not contribute towards a qualification, eg, adult community education courses, courses taken for personal interest (CPI) and learning for which only a certificate of attendance is given.
- Type C learners must have a verified NSN, ie their name, date of birth and residential status must be verified.
Type D enrolment
Learners enrolled in at least one quality assured (formal) qualification (or a course/s toward such a qualification) with a total EFTS value (across all enrolments) greater than 0.03.
- Includes learners with workplace training agreements if their EFTS from formal qualifications is greater than 0.03.
- Includes learners in courses funded through DQ1-2, DQ3-7, DQ7+ and Youth Guarantee.
- A full data set for the learner is required for SDR reporting.
- Type D learners must have a verified NSN, ie their name, date of birth and residential status must be verified.
Note:
If a learner is enrolled in a combination of formal and non-formal courses, the sum of EFTS from formal enrolments will identify them as a Type B or Type D enrolment.
